Archmage Orladin Blown away. Every VS album is good. They've always been a strong band, but my favorite album from them is narrowly SWOA. After the long hiatus/apparent break-up I was sad. Once this album was announced, but with some original members not being present, I was very skeptical. The first single release didn't resonate with me...Now though...What a triumphant return. Incredible. My current album of the year for 2024... Favorite track: Seek the Last Priestess of Tyyk.

sashavonkarl74 Texan symphonic BM outfit Vesperian Sorrow is a "veteran" band so to speak, this is their 6th album. It is not easy to describe the outcome, other bands such as Finnish Suotana or fellow American Ceremonial Castings come to mind, yet again Vesperian Sorrow mixes different styles in one big hot messy pot. Something special, and almost unique to them. The guitar work is outstanding, for sure. The clean vocals, I am not a fan of, but that aside, the opus is one to keep Favorite track: An Epistle To The Prime Vivified.

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sashavonkarl74
